## Summary

Traditions of teaching and practice concerned with suffering, its causes, and paths to liberation.

## Overview

Buddhist traditions develop from teachings attributed to the Buddha in ancient India. They analyze suffering, attachment, impermanence, and the absence of a fixed self, then propose disciplines of conduct, attention, and understanding.

Collections of discourses were transmitted, organized, and translated in different languages and schools. The library treats these witnesses as situated textual traditions and avoids making a single Buddhism speak where the sources preserve distinctions.
