### Ancient Greek

λαθητικὰ δʼ εἰσὶν οἵ τʼ ἐναντίοι τοῖς ἐγκλήμασιν, οἷον ἀσθενεῖς περὶ αἰκίας καὶ ὁ πένης καὶ ὁ αἰσχρὸς περὶ μοιχείας, καὶ τὰ λίαν ἐν φανερῷ καὶ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς· ἀφύλακτα γὰρ διὰ τὸ ὅλως μηδένα ἂν οἴεσθαι.

### English

Those are likely to remain undetected whose qualities are out of keeping with the charges, for instance, if a man wanting in physical strength were accused of assault and battery, or a poor and an ugly man of adultery. Also, if the acts are done quite openly and in sight of all; for they are not guarded against, because no one would think them possible.

Ont des chances de ne pas être découverts ceux dont les qualités ne concordent pas avec les accusations, par exemple si un homme dépourvu de force physique était accusé de voies de fait, ou un homme pauvre et laid d'adultère. Il en va de même si les actes sont accomplis tout à fait ouvertement et sous les yeux de tous, car on ne s'en prémunit pas, puisque personne ne les croirait possibles.
