λόγον δὲ ἔχει τῶν θαυμαζόντων, καὶ οὓς θαυμάζει, καὶ ὑφʼ ὧν βούλεται θαυμάζεσθαι, καὶ πρὸς οὓς φιλοτιμεῖται, καὶ ὧν μὴ καταφρονεῖ τῆς δόξης·

### English

Now men esteem those who admire them and those whom they admire, those by whom they wish to be admired, those whose rivals they are, and whose opinion they do not despise.

### French

Or les hommes estiment ceux qui les admirent et ceux qu’ils admirent, ceux dont ils souhaitent être admirés, ceux dont ils sont les rivaux et ceux dont ils ne méprisent pas l’opinion.
