ΣΩ. ἀλλʼ, ἦν δʼ ἐγώ, οὕτω χρὴ ποιεῖν, εἴ σοι δοκεῖ. καὶ γὰρ ἐμοὶ οἷπερ ἔφην ἰέναι πάλαι ὥρα, ἀλλὰ Καλλίᾳ τῷ καλῷ χαριζόμενος παρέμεινα. ταῦτʼ εἰπόντες καὶ ἀκούσαντες ἀπῇμεν.

Soc. I quite agree, said I, if you think so: for I was long ago due to be where I told you I was going; I stayed merely to oblige our excellent Callias. Here our colloquy ended, and each went his way.

Soc. Je suis tout à fait d’accord, dis-je, si tel est ton avis. Car j’aurais dû depuis longtemps déjà me trouver là où je t’avais dit que j’allais. Je ne suis resté que pour complaire à notre excellent Callias. Ainsi prit fin notre entretien, et chacun partit de son côté.
