IX 63 p. 401 A: Πολύβιος (XII 3, 10) ..... γίγνεσθαί φησι παρόμοιον τῶι λαγῶι ζῶιον τὸν κούνικλον καλούμενον .... μνημονεύει δ’ αὐτῶν καὶ Ποσειδώνιος ὁ φιλόσοφος ἐν τῆι Ἱστορίαι· « καὶ ἡμεῖς εἴδομεν πολλοὺς κατὰ τὸν ἀπὸ Δικαιαρχείας πλοῦν ἐπὶ Νέαν πόλι ν . νῆσος γάρ ἐστιν οὐ μακρὰν τῆς γῆς κατὰ τὰ τελευταῖα μέρη τῆς Δικαιαρχεία ς , ὑ π ’ ὀλίγων μὲν κατοικουμέν η , πολλοὺς δὲ ἔχουσα τοὺς κουνίκλους τούτου ς. »

ATHENAEUS IX 63, p. 401 A: Polybius (XII 3, 10) ... says that an animal resembling the hare is found, called the cuniculus. ... Posidonius the philosopher also mentions them in his History: “We too saw many of them during the voyage from Dicaearchia to Neapolis. For there is an island not far from the mainland, off the furthest parts of Dicaearchia, inhabited by a few people but containing many of these cuniculi.”

Le philosophe Posidonius les mentionne lui aussi dans son Histoire : « Nous en avons nous-mêmes vu beaucoup pendant la traversée de Dicéarchie à Néapolis. Il existe en effet, non loin de la terre, au large des dernières parties de Dicéarchie, une île habitée par peu de gens, mais qui compte un grand nombre de ces couniclos. »
