Licet ergo haec in vicem scribere et hanc semper integram egerere materiam circumspicientibus tot milia hominum inquieta, qui ut aliquid pestiferi consequantur, per mala nituntur in malum petuntque mox fugienda aut etiam fastidienda.

Je puis bien correspondre ainsi avec toi, et exploiter une matière toujours neuve, quand de toutes parts nous voyons s’agiter ces milliers d’ambitieux qui, pour emporter quelque désastreux avantage, courent à travers tant de maux à un nouveau mal, convoitent ce qu’ils vont fuir tout à l’heure, ou du moins dédaigner.

These, then, are the things about which we may write in turn, and this is the ever fresh material which we may dig out as we scan the restless multitudes of men, who, in order to attain something ruinous, struggle on through evil to evil, and seek that which they must presently shun or even find surfeiting.
