### Ancient Greek

καὶ γὰρ ὁ Τίμων (B 75 Diels PPF) ἐν τοῖς πρὸς τοὺς φυσικοὺς τοῦτο ὑπέλαβε δεῖν ἐν πρώτοις ζητεῖν, φημὶ δέ τὸ εἰ ἐξ ὑπσθέσεώς τι ληπτέον. διόπερ καὶ ἡμᾶς οἰκεῖόν ἐστιν ἐκείνῳ στοιχοῦντας τὸ παραπλήσιον ποιεῖν ἐν τῇ πρὸς τοὺς ἀπὸ τῶν μαθημάτων διεξόδῳ.

For Timon too (B 75 Diels, PPF), in his arguments against the natural philosophers, supposed that this should be investigated first, namely whether anything ought to be accepted by hypothesis. It is therefore fitting that we follow him and do something similar in our treatment of the mathematical disciplines.
