## Passage 3.54

### English

Since, then, starting from what has some quantity of breadth, we wish to conceive something through an intensification of narrowness, we shall not conceive length entirely and altogether without breadth, for that belongs to a different genus. Rather, we shall apprehend some narrow breadth, so that the conception terminates in a breadth of the very smallest kind, yet still a breadth. Beyond that, the mind’s attention passes to something of another genus, which is neither length nor breadth.
