## Passage section-0073

### Anglais

Demonstration: Thought is an attribute of God (by Proposition 1, Part 2); and consequently (by Proposition 3, Part 2) there is necessarily in God an idea of thought and of all its affections, and therefore (by Proposition 11, Part 2) an idea of the human mind. Moreover, this idea or knowledge of the mind does not follow from God's nature insofar as he is infinite, but insofar as he is affected by the idea of another particular thing (by Proposition 9, Part 2). Now the order and connection of ideas is the same as the order and connection of causes (by Proposition 7, Part 2). Therefore this idea or knowledge of the mind is in God and is related to God in the same manner as the idea or knowledge of the body. Q.E.D.

This idea of the mind is united to the mind in the same way as the mind itself is united to the body.

Demonstration: If the mind is united to the body, it is, as we have shown, because the body is the object of the mind (see Propositions 12 and 13, Part 2). Consequently, for the same reason, the idea of the mind must be united with its object, that is, with the mind itself, in the same manner as the mind is united with the body. Q.E.D.
