nOMEN-SWGERS, or cup-bearere, as it might be rendered, by a triding alteration of the Hebrew word Chap. vene. Pcihaps this vcrsc might be translated thus : He hath made every thing beautiful in its season^ more&oer he hath set eternity in the midst of them^ so thafman canMt fin^ outf ^c That is : though God has disposed all things in perfect beauty and order, yet as they have a reference to endless ages, the limited powers of short-lived man cannot discern that harmony which the works of God bear to each other The 14th verse seems to justify thissense 4- 13-19. The meaning seems to be, that a wise young man, under all the disadvantages of poverty and distressed circumstances, may extricate himself, and be advanced to a throne ; while a foolish king, though bom to power, teay, by his rejection of a good counsel, be reduced to poverty 4. 15, 16. These verses seem to describe the neglect with which a reigning king is sometimes treated, and the court Which is paid to his heir. Diodati 6. 3. The meaning seems, that better is the enjoyment of what is in our view, and within our reach, than the indulgence of vain and undetermined wishes 8. 5, C. The new section here seems misplaced; perhaps it should be altered thus : A wise mans heart discerneth both time and judgment : for to every purpose there is time and judgment Because the misery of man is gi^eat upon him^ therefore he hioweth not^ SfC 8. 10. An English Bible printed in 1599, has this verse thus : I saw the wicked buried^ and they returned; and they that came from the holy place were yet forgotten in the city^ when they had done right : this also^ ^c Pillars of smoker supposed by some to be an allusion to the perfumes arising from altars of incense Company, &c.

Compagnie, etc. Peut-être mieux : les danses chorales, etc.
