οὔτε δέ διὰ εἰδικῆς διὰ τὸ μήπω βέβαιον εἶναι τὴν τῆς γενικῆς ὕπαρξιν, οὔτε διὰ γενικῆς· αὕτη γάρ ἐστιν ἡ ἀμφισβητουμένη. οὐ τοίνυν ἔστι τις γενικὴ ἀπό- δειξις. ᾧ ἕπεται τὸ μηδὲ τὴν εἰδικὴν ὑπάρχειν. καὶ ἄλλως, ἡ γενικὴ ἀπό | δειξις εἰ μὲν λήμματά τινα ἔχει καὶ ἐπι- ψροράν, οὐδέ γενική ἐστιν, εἰ δὲ οὐκ ἔγει, οὐδὲ κατα- σκευάσει τι, πολὺ δὲ μᾶλλον οὐδὲ τὴν ἑαυτῆς ὕπαρξιν.

It cannot be established through a specific demonstration, because the existence of generic demonstration is not yet secure, nor through a generic demonstration, for this is the very thing in dispute. Therefore no generic demonstration exists. It follows that specific demonstration does not exist either. Besides, if generic demonstration has certain premises and a conclusion, it is no longer generic; but if it does not, it will establish nothing, much less its own existence.

Il n’existe donc aucune démonstration générale. Il s’ensuit que la particulière n’existe pas non plus. D’ailleurs, si la démonstration générale possède des prémisses et une conclusion, elle n’est plus générale; si elle n’en possède pas, elle n’établira rien, et moins encore sa propre existence.
