Academica Passage 14

Passage 14 of 69

Canonical reference 1.14

Latin

perseus-cicero-academica-lat

CIC. Immo vero et ista et totam veterem Academiam, a qua absum tam diu, renovari a te nisi molestum est velim , et simul adsidamus inquam si videtur. VA.

Cicero: “On the contrary, if it is not troublesome, I should like you to refresh my memory both about that controversy and about the whole Old Academy, from which I have been absent so long. And let us sit down at the same time, if you agree.” Varro said, “Certainly. I am in fact rather weak. But let us see whether Atticus agrees that I should do what I see you wish.” “Indeed I do,” said Atticus. “For what could I prefer to recalling what I heard long ago from Antiochus, and at the same time seeing whether it can be expressed adequately in Latin?” After these words, we all sat down within view of one another.
