Brutus, or On Eminent Orators Passage 174

Passage 174 of 334

Canonical reference 174

Latin

perseus-cicero-brutus-lat

Lucius Gellius was close to them in age. He was not a very attractive orator, although you could not say what he lacked. He was neither unlearned nor slow in invention, nor forgetful of Roman history, and he spoke with sufficient fluency. But his lifetime had fallen among great orators. He nevertheless rendered his friends much useful service, and lived so long that he became involved with the orators of many generations.
