Against the Ethicists, Book XI of Against the Learned Section 188

Every art and science that exists is apprehended from the technical and scientific works it produces: medicine, for example, from things done medically, lyre-playing from things done in the manner of a lyre-player, and likewise painting, sculpture, and all similar arts. But the art alleged to concern itself with life has no activity that attends it, as we shall establish. Therefore there is no art concerning life.
