Οἱ μὲν οὖν πλείους διὰ τοιούτων τινῶν ἀκροβολισμῶν πειρῶνται τὴν Χαλδαϊκὴν μέθοδον ἀναιρεῖν· ἡμεῖς δέ κατὰ τὸν ὅμοιον τῆς ἐπιχειρήσεως τρόπον τὰς ἀρχὰς καὶ ὥσπερ στοιχεῖα ταύτης κινήσαντες ἕξομεν 〈σὺν〉 αὐταῖς καὶ τὴν τῶν λοιπῶν θεωρημάτων σύστασιν ἠθετημένην.

Most people, then, try to abolish the Chaldean method through skirmishes of this sort. But we, following our usual manner of argument, shall overturn its principles and elements, as it were, and thereby have rejected the structure of its remaining theorems together with them.

La plupart tentent ainsi de renverser la méthode chaldéenne par quelques escarmouches de ce genre.
